Hi, this is on the way, a Cupal (Copper-Aluminium composite) badge inscribed "4.Reichsnährstands-Ausstellung - München - 1937" to commemorate the 4th (of 5) pre-war Agricultural events
- "to present the agricultural economy and politics of the German Reich, as well as the blood and soil ideology to the public" (German Wikipedia).
The event lasted from 30th May to the 6th June 1937.
These events were also to promote food self-sufficiency for Germany, as they were concerned about international pressures (import boycotts etc), and were obviously preparing for the possibility of war.
The first of these Reichsnährstand exhibitions took place in Erfurt (1934), then Hamburg (1935), Frankfurt am Main (1936), Munich (1937), then the largest followed at Leipzig (1939). The next one was planned for Vienna in 1940 but did not happen because of the war. No others took place subsequently.
The badge is maker marked "Robert Neff - Berlin W35".
The Wheat and the sword (Greek, or Roman Gladius) represent the "Blood and Soil" Movement.
The poster translation:-
"4th Reich's nutritional exhibition.
Educational shows from the life and work of the farmer, 3000 animals, the production battle, 7000 machines.
3 demonstrations daily in the “Great (Exhibition) Ring” large show acts, riding and driving tournament. Demonstrations of award-winning horses and cattle.
Entrance fees: RM2, from 3pm RM1 - children up to 14 years old."
Hope it looks OK.
Regards, Paul
