What makes this OK? Does somebody have a picture of one on a wall? Someone else owns one? Makers mark on the back? What makes this an original piece?

Such souvenir pieces were and still are quite common with Olympic gatherings and there are many similar such bits to be found, like scarves, handkerchiefs, etc. This piece looks to have the proper age and construction to it and I would have no problem with it at all.

Hi Fred,
original pieces does NOT markers mark on the background. Round black markers mark feature replicas produced in the last twenty years.
For example the photo of salesroom auctions - original large flag, the same design, material and printing.
