    Enamel Badges came first -1920/30s-...The painted badges are wartime produced...

    Brass and aluminum were strategic materials needed for the war effort. Even SS insignia were made of zinc during wartime. Zinc also has a lower melting point than brass so they couldnt enamel it.

    thank's for the history lesion. I thought it was because ZINK was much cheaper?
