Sometime late this summer I plan to post a very factual and candid thread concerning the "Rad Traditions" insignia..
Posting examples of original badges and the history behind them... I may close a certain thread as I feel posting pictures without explanation may have been a bit hasty and not very useful to fellow members.. I have a lot of ground to cover in order to be a better asset to WRF members... I hope many or some will participate as time allows... Thanks in advance...G
Here I give a helping hand from official RAD-orders.
Surveys with RAD-orders were published in some years since the later 1930's.
First I show two pages with indications and dates from August 31, 1939.
Note the order-number change from Arbeitsgau I and information about the
changing for the word Ochsenkopf into Büffelkopf.
Information is given for Arbeitsgau XXI - Niederrhein. The badge already was
withdrawn and no longer allowed to be purchased.
In 1941 a new survey was published January 31, 1941. Compare the both
surveys for your convenience.
As mentioned before: All badges are in-depth covered in volume 5 for the series
"Headgear of Hitler's Germany" pages 386 through 390 with general information.
Pages 391 through 442 with the official forms. Further some pages which may have
been un-official forms. Badges are shown in color (front and reverse) and from most at
least one photo of it in wearing.
Gwar: when you start with your plan about traditions RAD stuff, I will
so now and then jump in with (possible) information and with variations
.......photographs where the badges are being worn. I hope you don't
mind!!
