What is the consensus on this solid silver RPT? Does any period document exist or is this possibly a jeweller's copy?

Perfectly original, period produced pin in silver grade. Made by one of the manufacturers that also supplied those in bronze- definitely not jewellers copy- those pieces are struck just like their brass counterparts.

Indeed Erich and of course, a fake that you and I have discussed before. For someone to "spend a little time" on this badge, they could make it convincing due to our clearly limited information about this particular version.

This solid example and which does not display any makers marks is courtesy of the Bob Coleman collection.

My great grandfather wore one! I saw him wearing it in his studio wedding photo. He was in the SA.
