A bump to this thread with my recently acquired example. Ground dug from SS Nord positions in Northern Karelia near Kokkosalmi in the Kiestinki municipality.
No makers mark that I can see but undoubtedly a genuine example of the Hungarian Volksdeutsch badge. The lovely deep green verdigris is a thing to see under magnification!
Its interesting to compare the lettering of ground-dug badge to the one at the beginning of the thread - the letters of the ground-dug badge certainly seem to show the irregularities associated with the handmade die making mentioned in some of the earlier posts. Beautiful patina, rich in history!
