i have no pictures of it because i have a terrible camera, but i have an example numbered 2120835. can anyone tell me the closest approximate date that it would issued? it was a gift from a ukranian friend of mine who got it from her grandfather. its one of my favorites : )

if i can find a better camera then ill post some pictures.

ah, so its just barely postwar then?
i never heard the story of how he got it. i wish there was an archive i could easily access that i just punch in the serial number and it gives me all the info i need.

There are those with access to the archives, and although it was issued in 1945, it may have been awarded for actions prior to that date. Getting it researched will reveal the facts. By the way, would love to see a photo/scan obverse and reverse, please, if you are able. . .

My guess would be summer, 1945. Most likely for wartime bravery.
OP, are you aware of 'Echoes Of War, Researching Soviet Military Decorations' by Paul Schmitt? Very helpful when estimating award dates.
