Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment
On 8.9.43 Comrade Kukava moved with his radio station to the infantry front lines and provided uninterrupted communications from the lead observation post (OP) to the battalion’s positions.
On 8.9.43 near Suligovka Comrade Kukava advanced with his radio station 100m from the enemy’s front lines and mainted uninterrupted radio communications with the battalion’s OP. In this engagement the battalion’s fire destroyed an enemy self-propelled artillery gun and suppressed two enemy artillery batteries and a mortar battery.
On 9.9.43 near Novo-Dmitrievka Comrade Kukava moved with his radio station to a lead OP and established continuous communications with the battalion’s OP and supplied the communications throughout the course of the day.
On 11.9.43 near Barvenkovo Comrade Kukava moved with his radio station to the lead OP and provided communications with the battalion’s OP and supporting communications all day, thus enabling accomplishment of the regiment’s mission.
For exemplary accomplishment of the Command’s mission on the front in the struggle against the German invaders, he is deserving of the Order of the Red Star.
