Here is my new Order of the Red Star. Having looked through the forum, I would love to find one with the award book as well.
I have emailed a guy in Russia about researching these awards but have as yet received no reply.

Hi Roger, this one is very late, 1950's, so will either be a long service or a "catch up" award for deeds done in WW2 . But I still like it very much. Asthetically I like these 1950's stars best.
Cheers, Ade.

The serial number gave me the feeling that it was a 1950s issue, but I wasn't too sure. I was in the process of looking for the resource I have concerning serial number ranges but Ade beat me to it!
It looks great! Nice patina!
Thanks, Ade. I knew that with such a high number it was definitely a later issue, but it is in such good condition I just couldn't pass it up!
Chances are it's a 1953 long service award (for 15 years of service). Whether or not these are worth researching is very personal; you won't get a combat citation (most likely there is no citation at all), but the order was awarded to an officer who served during the war and possibly had an interesting career and received other interesting awards.
