Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment
During the Desna river crossing HQ Battery Scout Squad Leader Master Sergeant Pavlenko exhibited valor and bravery crossing to the far shore with the recon platoon’s equipment in a fishing boat.
On the western shore he established continuous observation of the enemy’s firing positions, discovering two mortar batteries, two artillery batteries, as well as several heavy machineguns and observation posts, thus enabling the suppression of the enemy’s artillery. He is deserving of the Order of the Red Star.
