Default Red Star # 1883668 engraving good?

    Good evening all,

I just bought myself another Red Star, serial numbered 1883668, making this a MZPP variant but I am not 100% certain on the serial number engraving. I know the MZPP variation from this batch has some "less beautiful" engravings but this star # 1883668 is probably the ugliest engraving I have seen. In fact it is so ugly that I start to doubt the originality The obverse of the star is correct though with f.e. the long bajonet. I took a gamble on this one because of the very cheap price so I hope you guys can help me to take away my doubts

It's perfectly fine. Here is #1881884, for comparison. It was awarded 1945, an MZPP variation, with replaced enamel on the two horizontal arms of the star.

Thanks a lot Bill! Glad to hear it's a good one. It was the ugly engraving and the very cheap price that initially made me cautious but I am glad I took the gamble.

Agreed, it's a perfectly fine MZPP order.

And the engraving is not ugly, it's just... Well... Artistic ;-)

Yeah, many people say the engraving style in this range is not to their likings.
I have opposite opinion. Not the most calligraphic one, true, but has beauty of its own. And is always perfectly readable and clear.

Just added yet another MZPP Red Star, same type and serial # range in well worn, damaged condition. The veteran even had to re-attach the pin, done in a very crude way haha....though it does have lots of character This one is numbered # 1879177

My latest MZPP star. It comes in worn condition with quite some loss of enamel and is numbered # 2272508. It does show lots of character though. Guess it is awarded for actions at the very end of the war.
