. . . Unfortunately missing its central motif!
Although I do not collect TR badges, I thought it an interesting item, which came recently from a local clearance.
Kind regards, Malcolm.

I have never seen a real one of these 'Traditionsabzeichen' but copies do exists.
Made on the initiative of the commander of the regiment, Oberst Kononov.
Hello Scout,
Thank you for the reply. I believe this to be an original item. However, the clearance story could be just that, a story!
Kind regards, Malcolm.
Hi Malcolm
I did not mean to imply, that your 'abzeichen' was a fake.
Just that there were copies made of these.
I have never handled one of these badges, so am not an expert.
The background of these badges are very interesting.
There are also 'Traditionsabzeichen' from the Sibir-Kosaken-Reiter-Regiment and the Kavallerie-Korps-Jung-Kosaken.
The latter not being a cross like the DON and SIBIR abzeichen, but wreath complete with crossed curved swords and eagle over swastika.
Hello Scout,
It is a shame that this badge has been damaged – which probably means it has little appeal to most collectors. If a genuine badge, the damage can be considered part of its history, which I find quite interesting – although only for a short while until it is swopped for something else!
Kind regards, Malcolm.
I quite agreee; a shame that it has been damaged.
But on the other hand, it does not seem to matter to some collectors; de-nazified Iron Crosses are still collected and they display the same kind of damage where the Swastika has been removed in the center of the 'EK.'
A good original badge. I would certainly be happy to own it.
Cheers, Ade.
