Demjansk shield factory dies. Is it Real?

Hello All,
I was going through some auction sites last night and found this one.
I'm not interested in buying it, But would like to hear your thoughts on this one.

I thought it would make for a good discussion. So here are the photo's from the site.

Well Phil, just my opinion but as there are so few known makers of the Demjansk shield these dies don't appear to match any of the 5 types.

It would be nice to buy the dies cheap and see what the shield looks like when it is struck.

Do you think they would go cheap Phil...

I think with the way collectors are going at the moment everything seems to be selling for big money.

Perhaps somebody with a press will buy them and post the results here for us once they have knocked a few out..!!

Sorry Phil, I've been busy with my "Falaise" thread

To me, it's at least not the 'Serif J fake" from the 1970's but it is interesting. seems to me that from the photo there is a 'strike' still in the die? ( ragged edges ) and that is not the impression itself. Maybe another test die for the toolmakers? ....... fake or real, I can't tell but it looks a bit lightly made for a production die IMO

I have no intentions or interest in this and just thought an unique item to discuss.
I don't collect shields, But knew some here did.
It does looks like the edges are rough and hard to tell if that is a pressed shield still on it.

It ends on March 25 and currently has 1 bid at $40.

Here is the description on the auction.

A Third Reich die cast for the Demjansk sleeve shield. Very good condition. Measures 4 7/8 inches diameter. Weighs 16 pounds.

Either some collector is all excited thinking he's about to get an "original" die, or a faker is already on the phone buying raw metal so he can gear up production of a new batch of copies.
