That idea does appear to fit, the back being worn down against the uniform and the edge against another medal. A shame it's been seperated from the bar.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. I had a set years ago that had the maker cut out of the envelope. I always wondered why.

Very interesting, I would have never noticed that otherwise. I should be more observant. I just googled the mark and it corrected me to that so I thought it was just my eyesight
It looks as if someone put the U in the stamp upside down.
