The ribbon is a reproduction, but this is commonplace for these awards.
As for the medal itself, it looks like a good first type award, but I'm no expert.

The telling is in the edges. On originals, the edges of the ribbon are scalloped. You can see where the weave loops back on itself. On reproductions, there is a visible border, and the edges are straight.

Your assessment appears to be correct. The ribbon has the correct scalloped edges. The medal seems to have undergone some very light polishing/wear, but that just accentuates the details in my opinion.
