I have had it for over 20 years.It was with some other things I bought.Happened to come across it a couple days ago and did a image search on it.The only matches were a russian site.Strange looking medal

Its a fantasy item so not based off anything, the base is a crude rip off a DKIS almost.

read the tread.I have a bunch of books on decorations and a bunch of other things so I know a little bit about it.I was 99% sure it was fake but it is interesting to find out the history of this stuff.

It is unlikely that the german lettering would be painted on looks like a sharpie instead of ingrained/metal lettering. Only very small pin buttons have I seen lettering written on.
