German Gold Cross in cloth / Deutsches Kreuz in Gold Stoffausführung mit gesticktem Kranz.

Could do with some info please.How common was it to have a cloth insignia of the Gold Cross not with metal gold wreath but one stitched with gold thread? I have to date only seen one example of the wreath being stitched and without date.Does anyone have any pictures of one's that i have described?

I saw one years ago. I would not invest too much money in such an item. It would scare off future buyers.

I have seen one with a stitched wreath before, but it was a while ago. Stewy
An interesting cross, many of the parts, i.e. the types of material used and the way some of the stitching has been deftly executed make this one I would not like to dismiss out of hand. But there are little things like the 'fat' swastika and reduced amount of rays present that could swing it easily the other way. It seems odd that the materials on the whole look a good match for originals, but the actual way the cross has been made resembles no other I have seen. Also, a photo of the reverse would be interesting to see regarding it's make up if there's no paper or buckram covering it.
Who knows? It maybe a very rare type not seen before? Perhaps made by a private tailor? Whatever, as it stands, with no provenance whatsover for this design as far as I know, it cannot be worth anything like as much as a known original, and by a long way. More knowledgable eyes like Dietrich Maerz or other specialists in this field need to take a look. For comparison, here's one that was for sale several years ago, as can be seen it's a different beast altogether.

What I meant is when I buy something, I buy it at a price to where if I had to sell it in a pinch I could and not lose money on it. Unless I got something like that dirt cheap I would not invest major money in it, because I feel I would be keeping it. A guy like me has to watch his pennies (I am a school teacher).
It may be good, but something like that I would have to see and handle in person.

My concerns are with the wreath. Not dated, poorly executed, I do not care for the bullion used. As Ned said mayby something privately taylor made, but not for me.
I used to teach also Jody. Not the highest paying jobs for the education required. It is satisfying to see the light of comprehension in their eyes when they learn something though.
Certainly poorly and crudely made, for a very high end and prestigious award. I would not purchase this one.
