German POW medal/award/badge/patch/etc?
Greetings all. I was asked earlier today if there was any type of award given to German soldiers who were held prisoner by the allies during the war. American soldiers were awarded a POW medal, was there something similar given to German soldiers? I've tried to research this but havent been able to find much. Any help is appreciated

I think the Americans were the only ones to 'award' medals for being POWs

Nothing of that nature was awarded by the German Govt. (East or West)

Here is the Belgian one, with a quiet similar ribbon.
Instaured on the 13 november 1947 , every star stands for 6 mounths imprisonment.

I dont normaly collect KZ related, but my grandfather was a Polish soldier and spent seven years in a German POW camp, so when I found this I felt a connection. I also had reliatives in the German army and the British Army at the same time so I get to see the war from all sides!!!!!
