Here's my GWL Uboat War badge . It's in very nice condition considering it's age. I really like GWL's quality

Unfortunately, I believe this one is a copy as well.
It has the wrong shape for the eagle's shoulders from the reverse, and again, no tool mark on the pin.

I'll have to agree with Ralph's statement that badges you show from GWL are bad.. The pins on them give them away. Sorry!

Looks like an original GWL to me -- not like the Staegemeir copies. It would help to have closeups of the hinge and catch to be sure.

I did a search and found the old thread from 2014 which had the all-important end view of the catch. An original badge.

Hello Norm, were there variants of this badge?
Because the reverse of this example does not match up with the one in the data base on GCA.

Hi Ralph,

Are you referring to the shape of the space to the right of the eagle's neck when viewed from the reverse? I have images of another example like this on file -- images attached -- which interestingly has the same partial GWL mark as on "humble collector's" example. Never thought of it as a variant but I guess maybe it is -- will have to look out for more examples.
