The Army Flak Badge Was Authorized On July 18, 1941 By The Army Commander In Chief. This Badge Was To Be Awarded To Individuals In Heer Anti-aircraft Units. The Award Was Worn On The Left Breast And Was Silver In Color. This Award Featured The 88mm Gun With The Army Eagle On Top.

Unlike The Luftwaffe Award This Badge Was Awarded For Shooting Down Aircraft Only. Since Most Flak Batteries Were Luftwaffe Controlled This Was A Fairly Rare War Badge To Be Issued. When Engaged Against Ground Targets, The Crew Of An Army Flak Battery Would Be Awarded The General Assault Badge. To Receive The Army Anti-aircraft Badge The Crew Had To Get Credit For Taking Part In The Shooting Down Of Five Enemy Aircraft. Battery Commanders Were Also Authorized The Award Once Half Of His Subordinates Had Qualified For The Badge.

I bought this one over 25 years ago. It was not cheap then, priced at £45, but I am glad I made the investment back then.

The maker of this particular badge is at present unknown.

A very nice badge Adrian and it is difficult to find a good one.

On GCA.com it turned out the maker of this type of badge is S&L.

    Best regards

That's indeed a nice S&L that you got there. I'am sure that you are aware that £45 is nothing compared to the prices of today...

I would agree. I just looked down a few dealers sites but could not even find a good one for sale.
