OK,it is a messed with original.I have a couple in my HK collection. This one is possibly period too.
You have to make the decision as to whether you want it in your collection ?
If i collected U-Boat badges i might go for it.But i like badges that were worn by the recipients, with damaged or replaced hardware, with the finish polished down to the tombak basemetal,or with a name or service number scratched on the reverse, that's just me.
Regards,Martin.
Hi Martin, I agree with you, personally I do not go for "minty" pieces in anything I collect, but also I would not pay "minty" prices for a well used piece unless it were a real rarity. Leon.

Personally, I like the parrot head on the eagle. A very distinctive look. As for the repairs, I'd have to say that I would tend to believe, from the careful and extensive work the person did, that it was more likely than not period done. 350 Euros? As much as I like it, I couldn't see going quite that high, but perhaps in the 275 range?

Hi, I managed to get 275 Euros, quite a significant improvement on the price, I would say, thanks a lot for your advise, regards, Juan
