As for the shield, I suppose in a way it's a shame it's in such a state. But if it's authentic then I think it just gives it more character and is all the better for it. Thinking about it, I must have picked it up about 25 years ago at a collectors fair and must have only paid a pound or two.

In my opinion it is an extremely worn, tired and rough looking shield.
But at the same time an original Deumer type 3.1. Is it magnetic by any chance?
