Nobody??
Greg.
looks ok but need better front picture.
Hi Harry
I'm gonna ask for more. Nothing bad with this pin or the catch?
Greg.
This badge is a forgery. Assmann are only known to have made a buntmetall version with a banjo style pin as far as I know. The overall finish is awfully soft, the water spout and oakleaves especially. Reverse side also shows soft, rounded edges that indicate casting as well as the hardware which is not compliant in any way with known originals, and the maker mark matches no known original Assmann one that I've seen.
Regards, Ned.
EDIT: For comparisons to the real thing, see here:

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the better pic's. The pitting on the oaks shows all that needs be said about this cast fake.

I have to agree with Ned.
IMO opinion this is not an original Assmann badge.
The catch looks definately postwar i think,as does the maker mark and other features mentioned above.
There are a couple of members here that really know their Minesweeper badges, hopefully they will comment but as i mentioned i think this is not an original badge.
Regards,Martin.
Hello,
I have to agree with Ned and Martin, I have owned a couple of these Assmann minesweepers and this badge is not it.
Jody
Hi, the chaps have nailed this one I'm afraid. A cast copy that does not match the accepted hardware of it's type. One of the acorns even has a hole in it from where the liquid metal never made it into the mould due to a bubble! Definitely not a struck piece. Leon.
