Assume this award in the link is not the same medal as the one shown in the original post. And while I can't read what I assume is Russian, just because it is on a website doesn't make it real.

One thing (beside the lack of any patina and what looks like some casting marks on the back) that concerns me is the ridge on pic #7.

Well spotted! That ridge line does indeed raise some questions. I can't recall ever seeing these being a 2 piece manufacture. For the cost of a silver grade these days, I would pass unless absolutely sure.

Only this portion of the award has the ridgeline that I can see. Not sure if it was poor hand finishing or a sign that this is a fake. Could it be remnants of a casting process (not good) or something else?

I am getting beyond my expertise so will defer to others at this point. One other thing. If this is silver, for 70+ years, I see no patina or tarnish. Just another concern.

So without further comment I pass the baton to the experts. Hopefully more will be around soon. However it is close to the holidays so it might be a while.

I will give you a important warning here. germanS-medal is a total fraud. It's a mirror of the original site German-medal.com
Be aware of the "s" in the word "germans".
I have seen people on a Russian forum who have been fooled by this site and sending money without getting any items.

germans-medal = scam.

german-medal = OK according to the Russians.
