Do you have a hand held black light? From what I see the stitching is sloppy. I don't know much about these though. Also wouldn't the SS runes be a gold color?

A horrible fake. The runes on the ribbon look like they were embroidered by a retarded monkey. The quality of the detail on the medal and finish look nothing like an original piece.
I might suggest that you study the quality of period German workmanship. This piece is self evident and an easy item to judge. By doing so, this will help you avoid buying bad pieces

Half the edges aren't square and the gaps between the embossed swastika and the medal edge are all over the place, as Bob indicates, the one is a 'no-brainer'.

fvrod1,I suggest you buy one on the many books on SS medals.We are only alerting you to the fact that the SS service medals (4,8,12,25) are faked galore!

LOL...thanks everyone for there input...I never shoot first and later take names. I always get the expert opinions first before buying. Doing some of my own research, I found a big flaw that nobody has pointed out....its missing the center wreath. That to me is a dead giveaway. The monkey can move on to the next potential buyer! lol.
