Fantasy designed and made first in England in 1979.
Based upon an original traditions shoulder strap insignia of the 44. Infanterie-Division Reichsgrenadier-Division "Hoch- und Deutschmeister".
Cheer, Ade.

The first ones were stamped out on old sheet steel so they looked aged. Same faker as the "Arnhem" sheild.
Cheers, Ade.

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

I should add a design was actually proposed but never got beyond the drawing board. Designed by Ernst Eigener of 637 Propaganda Kompanie. It was rejected as too morbid. Ironically Eigener fell in combat in Stalingrad.

This design was proposed to replace the rejected one, but the whole idea was shelved due to the extent of the defeat.

Yes, probably not a campaign one wished to commemorate on their sleeve.
