Probably original, but I never trust badges made by Rudolf Souval unless they have an impeccable provenance to them. Souval continued to produce badges long after the war was over and would sell them as long as there was any demand for them. If there's a absolute fool-proof way to distinguish between wartime and post wartime, I've never heard of it. William

I agree, it matches badges which are accepted as wartime produced awards.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
It is fine.
Don't be too paranoid over Souval made badges. Post war production more often than not featured their unique design of catch which was never used in WW2.
