Re: Defense of Leningrad Medal. Opinions?
Compare to this version of the medal.
Notice these sharp details:
Tower
Archway
Faces of soldier/ sailor/ civilians
Detail in bodies of soldier and sailor and their kit...

Re: Defense of Leningrad Medal. Opinions?
To me it looks fine. Maybe a later produced medal, but it looks USSR made to me.

Re: Defense of Leningrad Medal. Opinions?
I agree on the detail but it might just be worn. Almost looks sanded. From what I have read the ring should look a certain way on the ww2 models. No sure if it's right but I could be wrong
I am not sure to be honest. I have been looking at these for awhile and still have not pulled the trigger on one. Will be interested to see how this ones goes.

What colour is the stripe in the ribbon supposed to be? Seen everything from a dark green to a light blue

LOL, I am not too sure! The one I bought has a white ribbon with a single blue/green stripe. The version that I posted with better detail/ on it's original suspension comes with an all white ribbon.
Perhaps different ribbons signified whether or not the medal was awarded to soldiers/sailors/ or civilians of Leningrad?

I wouldn't say sanded... but probably heavily worn and then cleaned with some vigor and heavy elbow grease!
I have come to the conclusion that Russians like things shiney! My Grandma, god love her, gave me an 1863 Indian Head penny as a surprise gift/ good luck token. As I walked into her front door, she was hunched over the kitchen sink scrubbing it with steel wool!

It was advertised as: "GUARANTEED ORIGINAL WW2 issue Soviet medal, not a reproduction." It also comes with a 14day return policy.
Unless someone can provide a reason not to... I may ask to swap medals.

Hello,

Hi Dom,
Could you elaborate? I'm very new to Soviet medals and I am not sure what you mean!
