Hello, I`m in a process of selling some of my USSR memorabilia and I found this Hero star. The pin is a giveaway that I`m looking at a copy but... its little bit too worn out to be a cheap knockoff. My question is, could this be a fake star strapped to legitimate pin (from another type of medal) or perhaps something else?

The pendant is that of the Jubilee Medal "In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin"; Юбилейная медаль “За доблестный труд. В
ознаменование 100-летия со дня рождения В.И.
    Ленина”

This pendant in combination with the star does not give me a good feeling. The star seems to me to be a copy. This is also quite easy to check. After all, a real order hero of the USSR is made of gold; Герой Советского Союза / Назад в СССР / Back in USSR

I agree with Asjemenou, the pendant is from Lenin's jubilee medal and the star is a fake imo. Just look at how the 12 o'clock star ray is attached to the cconnecting ring. You could weigh the star (without suspension) and see if this matches with what the weight should be for an original star.

Or even try a magnet on the star first. Gold being not magnetic.

So, after I stopped being so careful with it, the gold foil chipped off a bit and the star is made of what I believe is lead on the inside:
