I think WW2 experts on Russian medals could know more about this one and if the SN on the back was war-issued or post-war issued: 2077478 also, can one locate the receiver?

Yes you can find out who recieved it. Contact Adrian Stevenson or Ed Haynes here on the forum. They will most likely be able to get you in contact with the right people. It's a medal for Combat service by the way...

Hi,
This is the medal for combat service, etablished on october 17, 1938.
Till 1943 it was attached to rectangular straplet, covered with red moire ribbon; from 1943 to pentagonal strap.
The medal awarded to Red Army, Navy, NKVD, ... for assistance in successful combat.
The number 2077478 is a grant of 1945.
