Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment
He has displayed bravery and courage during eight combat sorties against German fascism. He repeatedly led his wing on bombing missions deep in the enemy rear area in the Arctic’s difficult weather conditions. In the wing he bombed an enemy artillery formation on 1.7.41 near Kuolayarvi, the mission was fulfilled in an excellent manner, and after the bombing he made a second, low-altitude pass to gun down enemy personnel.
On 8.7.41 when the wing bombed the airfield at Kemiyarvi, the mission was accomplished in an excellent manner despite heavy enemy air defense fire.
He bombed enemy firing positions on 9.7.41 near Kairala and on a second pass fired at enemy personnel with machineguns at low altitude.
On 16.7.41 he again bombed and gunned enemy forces near Kairala, however after the mission he was attacked by enemy fighters; his plane caught fire in the air and upon landing on friendly territory he was wounded in the head and leg.
For the excellent accomplishment of combat missions against German fascism I am recommending him for the Order of the Red Banner.
Signed Commander, 137th Red Banner Fast Bomber Regiment, Colonel Udonin and Battalion Commissar Emeryanov on 4th August, 1941
