re: Medal For Bravery....
Hello Comrad,
Your medal would be issued around August/September of 1944. Very nice medal.

Thanks cabbell..any ideas on the plastic layer covering the ribbon...

re: Medal For Bravery....
I have seen plastic overed ribbons before, done by the Veteran.
Plastic covered ribbon bars were official though and were worn in the post war years.
Nice medal.
Cheers, Ade.

It is there, just very dark. If you click on the pic to enlarge it, it shows up a bit better.
Cheers, Ade.

Exactly...
I even own a pair of sergeants everyday/parade shoulder boards where a thin film of plastic/cellophane was applied over the yellow stripes to keep them from soiling...

There exist many examples out there - including a few in my collection - where the minute concentration of red enamel has flaked off from time and exposure.
