My first Order of the Patriotic War

Gentlemen,

I was a happy man when arriving from work today, as my Order of the Patriotic War Second class had arrived.

It is numbered 369413, which is means it was issued approximately in mid 1944/start of 1945, according to a fellow member of the Soviet Militay Awards forum.

I agree . They are both beautiful awards, but I still prefer the Red Star, it is a much more "humble" award, while this one is too "capitalist" (sickle and hammer made of gold) for my liking, considering the historical context.

I got it from Ebay, the price was 89 euros. I still cannot believe the auction ended with such a relatively low price considering the condition of the award.

The photos of the auction were not very good, and that might have prevented some bidders to take the plunge, but the order was clearly original.
