Need help with a Sovjet medal

This medal is found in Poland, at a place where Russians and Germans fought heavily. Does anyone know what this medal is for and whether it can be dated 1940-1945 or not?? I haven't found any good information so far. Thanks in advance.

Going by the serial number this one was issued in late 1942 or early 1943.

Yes, I dug it up in Poland two weeks ago.. I can make a picture at the end of the week and post it here, but what's so special about the rings on top?

Seeing the top ring (the one that connects the medal to the (missing) suspension) will help authenticate the medal. It should be a silver or silver plated brass ring that is soldered together.
