Order of the patriotic war variations

Hello,
I was looking at this opw 2nd class award and was wondering why lots of them are different. I was mainly thinking about the hammer and sickle part, some of them I see are in the gold colour but others are a silver, grey or brass colour. Is this a sign of wear or are they just different varieties or fake?

There's tons of variations of these awards, made in a few different 'factories'. Here's a nice link with the majority of variations:

The one shown by you is handed out in 1985 to veterans still alive.

1985 version has hammer and sickle and the order itself as one piece made of silver. Earlier awarded versions had H&S as an attached solid gold piece. You can see no gap between H&S and enamels while earlier awards have it. Here's a very good source for you:
