    Default Amazing Veterans grouping

Yesterday I picked up a fantastic grouping from the Daughter of a Veteran who started in a artillery unit in France WWI and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer flying on B29's at the the end of WWII. Look closely at the camera, it has every place he went in WWI scribed into it. I also have a ton of pictures from WWI taken with this camera. There is also a ton of WWII combat photographs from the Pacific Theatre. I have not figured out how to get all of these scanned in yet but when I do I'll get them posted. The two items I missed were his hand painted flight jacket and a WWII Nazi Luger who another relative took from his foot locker and sold. Oh well, next time. Any comments on the Japanese knife would be welcome. By that I also would like comments on any of the items.

    Enjoy

Whoops, I forgot to add the Kreigsmarine dagger I posted previously. It has been de-nazified and the blade broken off but it displays quite well.

I am trying to ID the unit insignia on this Japanese grenade. It is the same one on the leather flight jacket patch. He was attached to a B29 squadron in the South Pacific. Does anyone recognize this one?

    Thanks

Can't help you with the grenade, but the camera is a Kodak 'Autographic'
made from around 1914 to 1926. ( I have one also ) It allowed for the
film to be inscribed with a note or caption at the time of exposure.
These were advertised as 'The Soldiers Camera'
    during WWI.........

Thanks Steve and Aldo (great ID on the insignia and info on the camera, it explains the photos I have also!!). I've got quite the project finding the history of this soldier. I plan on putting together both his WWI and WWII uniform for display. I don't have his original uniform since he was laid to rest in his but I have most of his insignia and original patches. When I get all of the details of his very long career put together I will take great pleasure in telling his story to thousands.

Burt great score. I would be very careful with the Japanese grenade. I hear they are very touchy if not de- activated .Gary
