His first name was Montague and he was one of the 103 casualties suffered by 1 Rifle Brigade on 26 April in the vicinity of Fortuin near Ypres.

He joined the Army 11 August 1905 and went to France in August 1914.

He was a qualified Signaller and of "exemplary character"

I presume the War medal and Victory medal are also marked for Private Bush. As the replacement ribbons are easy to find, mounting them as a group (Star,War,Victory) would be a nice gesture. The family never did it as Montague never came home.

Nearly bid of these myself. Interesting group.

Funny how sometimes the small groups are the most interesting ones. Have just become addicted to WW1 medals myself, and have a few too many currently headed my way in the post.
As others have already said, would be nice to mount the medal group and display it all together, maybe alongside a small paragraph to explain the history of the individual and the significance of the grouping. It's always a shame when things like these are split up, and wonderful when they're able to be kept together.

I am sure you know that the "Mons Star" is far more sought after than the later 14/15 Star and to have the trio is even better. The fact that this is to a unit of The London Regiment adds further interest as this is one of the units that has specialist collectors.
As Anderson says replacement ribbons are easily sourced but they are always later production and many really look like it!

Personally, I would seek original ribbons even if less than mint which do turn up. I hesitate to say this but for such a group I would consider taking the ribbons from single medals not in a group (replacing those with new ribbons which would not harm their value drastically) to enhance this set.
Whatever you do, never separate the group but I am sure you know that.

As for framing them, that is a matter of choice but that will not increase the value but will cost you to do it well.

    Great find

    Regards

    Mark
