Hi all,
Another medal from my collection that was found locally to me in Derbyshire. A Greek 1940 War Cross. These were made in three classes, 1st Class having a gold/gilt crown, 2nd Class having a silver gilt crown and 3rd class being a bronze crown. The design is reminiscent of the Croix du Guerre with the monogram of King George II of Greece in the centre and the Greek crown above.
I believe this to be a 3rd class medal although there appears to be some silverish wash over the crown however this could just be due to age and oxidation as it also appears that it was polished at some point.
I hope you all enjoy,
Matt
