Looks a good WW2 compatible set with a nice V for Valor device. Regards Paul

Would say it dates from 1944 onwards. Fine medal and boxed too. Nice find.

    I concur with both members..

A nice WW2 era cased Bronze Star Medal. Now keep in mind that these awards that were manufactured during the WW2 years were also awarded during the Korean War and Vietnam era as well due to the overstock of these in the supply chain. There was an article not too long-ago discussing WW2 era Purple Hearts being issued as late as the late 1980s (1989) during the invasion of Panama and the first Gulf War in 1990-1991.

A loot of thanks for all of you, probable is from a soldier of Puerto Rico, I buy it from a antiques store on Puerto Rico and all items that go to the store are from veterans. With the info that it was fabric on ww2 period I am happy. Saddly I comited the error on the past of buying stuff without knowing the autenticity, and how I think a cumple of them are fake or restauration. Happy to know that the high value items that I buy were original! The broce star like the one I have, what value you think it is? And a lot of thanks for all of you!

$140 for a single Bronze Star is probably a little too high I believe. Does the medal have the persons name engraved on the back of it? Is it also in a box with the ribbon bar and enamel pin too, like in your example posted?

    Jer,

We don't appraise or put values on items here as it is a very subjective topic. One member may tell you the price is too high and someone else tell you it is too low so I suggest that you look at other similar items on auction sites and see what they have sold for to get an idea.

Keep in mind that unnamed medals are nice to have and if there is accompanying paperwork such as an award certificate or a copy of the orders awarding the medal to a Soldier, then the price will increase.

Named and engraved medals will also be a bit more expensive but a strong word of caution on these engraved medals, as they can be heavily faked and one must know the engraving styles that were used before spending a lot of money on something that may have been engraved post war.

Research and studying the various engraving types as well as ribbon suspension types is very important. There are several excellent reference books on US Medals and Decorations.

Here is a link to forum reference library and this section has some of the US Medal and Decoration Books that you can search for.

    Hope this helps you
