Hi
I thought I would post the first medal I brought. A named 1939-1945 medal to M21918 A:Hoffman.
I have no information about his service career so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Cameron

See this for info:

Not Australian awarded-the medal you have is copper plated with nickel (that has worn or been stripped off)-a British issue-can't help you with the name though...
Hi
I am a complete novice when it comes to World War Two British Medals, but if it is named and British issue would it have been privately done?
Thanks
Cameron
Don't know-you'll need Adrian or Big Ned or other British collectors for that-theyll help you-researching British veterans is much harder than Australians unfortunately.
Hoffman is a S.African surname, maybe look in that direction.

Hi Cameron. WWII British medals were not issued named. Apparently only
South African and Australian medals were officially impressed - I would
try the South African connection, as Tom above suggests.........

Hello Cameron,
Most British medals were mostly issued as unnamed, the only way to find out is to buy them with their box that came in the post.
