New York State - War Service Medal - WW1
Nothing exciting but have been looking for one of these for a while since I live in NY.
An excellent condition WWI New York State War Service Medal 1917-1919. Numbered 41904. Bronze with original ribbon and brooch pinback. Includes the original cardboard box.

But in looking at this award again this morning I think this is one of the more beautifully designed campaign awards from the US that I have seen. I've never been much impressed with many of the US campaign awards, especially from WW2 but this one stands out IMHO

It is an attractive design indeed.
Great Medal Michael...kind of Home grown per se`.
I like the fact that it says " World War " ..as the future had not been discovered yet until the 2nd World War in 1939.

Yes Larry...home grown. Never "actively" looked but always kept an eye out for one just in case I ran across one. Almost missed this in the case. Purchased a POW Award and Purple heart grouping and this was also on the dealers table. But tucked away.

Very nice looking medal. New York state put out many medals commemorating their states own service in other conflicts. The Spanish American War medal is a nice looking one too..
