    Default Pacific Star fake engraving?

I have been looking at purchasing this british ww2 pacific star, but have heard that often the engravings have been done post war to increase its value. Does this look like a postwar engraving on an original medal or is an authentic engraving? Perhaps the medal could be a reproduction as well?, Thanks so much

Hi, Only Indian, Australian & South African WW2 campaign medals were officially engraved or stamped. Other recipients could get them engraved at there own cost at places like Boots the chemist who offered this service ( known by collectors as Boots medals) most ex servicemen didn't bother. Although hard to see detail in your photograph I would say that the medal & stamped inscription look original to me though the ribbon is on back to front. Regards Paul.
