    Meyerse,

    Early numbered Purple Hearts made by the firm Bailey Banks and Biddle #s 1-60,000 were bronze with a gold gilt to them. I believe these can be traced but during WW2 they were not easily traceable but don't give up hope..

    I may be able to reach out to some folks that may help us..

    Here is a link to a US forum that may answer some of the questions. Nothing is impossible, but it may take some time..

    Looks a well used Purple heart made by the Robbins Co who made serial numbers 400001 to 600000 i have one numbered 412880 (unfortunately never found a recipient) regards Paul
