Nice medals. Looks like they were to have been returned to
Colonel Hooper every year. Have you tried to gently lift out
the backing pad ? There may be ribbons in behind.
Lol - The Royal Marines are tough. I talked to one once at
a pool party that a girlfriend's parents threw in 1976/77
- Drum Major Buchannan. He said they used to take
new recuits out on the ocean and toss them over-
board one-by-one to see who could swim.
He had a huge warship in full sail tattoed
across his chest.

Steve.
First thing I did was look under pad, nothing there ,
Came from a local estate , something I will keep I think.
So I am guessing they are rare , as they weren't handed back ?
I misread ! The match Itself was held by this Colonel Hooper,
not the medals ! Probably not too common - but anyone
can order sports medals from a trophy shop.........
Regards,
Steve.
Google showed no results in pics or other examples , so I think they are rare , anything commando these days are overpriced .
A friend of mine always says: " Go find one '' Meaning
if you can't find a certain item fairly quickly, then
that item is uncommon or rare.........

Steve.
Too true , although there british items they do look good displayed,(joke!) , so I think there a keeper ......
The seller was almost going to hand them back to the family estate as he does with personal items he gets from unpaid storage lockers . Just was at the right place at the right time .
Were any forum members part of the boxing match of 1989 ?
