I bought this badge in a charity shop today for £1. It is just under 3 cm tall. It is clearly a naval badge, but is it a British Royal Navy cap badge. The pins are very similiar to the US design, so have the British started using this system too? There are no markings on the back. Thanks for any help in IDing this badge.

It looks like a lapel badge for wearing on a civilian jacket. A lot of ex service men wear these. It's post 1952, but I doubt you'll get an exact date.
