WW2 Blood of Brazil Medal (Medalha Sangue do Brasil)

Dear fellow collectors,

Here is my WW2 Blood of Brazil Medal.

It was awarded to Officers, Soldiers and Civilians detached to European Theater of Operations (Italy) who were wounded by the enemy in Battle (Decree # 7.709 of July 5, 1945 - President Getúlio Vargas).
The Brazilian Expeditionary Force fought along side the american´s 5th army in Italy between 1944 and 1945.

Characteristics:
- Oval shape and made of bronze
- Dimentions: 35mm of width and 45mm of height
- Obverse: Saber symbolizing the weapons of the republic over a flush. Crowning the blade of the saber, are three red enameled stars that represents the three wounds inflicted to General Sampaio on may 24 of 1866, on the Battle of Tuiuti. On one ribbon over the blade reads "Sangue do Brasil" (Blood of Brazil)
- Border: The Branches of "Pau Brasil" (Brazilian Wood) remembers the nation and the origins of its name.
- Reverse: Has the Orb as the center of the Brazilian Flag where it reads: "Ordem e Progresso" (Order and Progress).
- Ribbon: Orange/red with a center Yellow/Green/Yellow stripe that has about a seventh of the total width of the ribbon.
