Hi Mark, thank you for the addition. The owner of the shop states that these all came in form the same person, possibly a relative as there are some more modern family photos included at the bottom of the lot, although there's over 100 wartime/immediate post war photos that I'm yet to completely sort through.

Many of the older ones are Royal Marines and at Royal Marine Depot Deal.

Based on those photographs Royal Marine seems even more likely as all the men on parade (excluding inspecting officers etc) are RM. As you can see one of the pics is captioned "RM Depot Deal" which was a Royal Marines establishment near Dover in Kent from 1861 - 1977 and was sold for re-development at the end of the '80s.

    Regards

    Hi Mark,

Royal Marine does seem more likely now. Primarly pictures are either from a Carrier, HMS Colossus and one does state Vengeance (although I can't seem to find if I've scanned that one in yet, so will search through) and there are some that appear to be aboard HMS King George V. There are also some photos of the Kings Visit aboard.

Most appear to be from South Africa. Although a few Marked "Iceland" and others in Maltan and Leyte.

Two pictures that include U.S. ships, first being HMS Victorious and USS Washington along with others, this picture can be found online already however the version online seems to be cropped down from the first barrel. USS Washington & HMS Victorious | Aircraft of World War II - WW2Aircraft.net Forums
and the second being the American Fleet in Iceland.

For some reason the reverses and obverses of these have posted out of order.

A few more photos sorted through today. It appears I haven't scanned in the reverse of every photo in the lot and I'm going to have to work through again

The next lot I'll add here are photos from King George VI's visit.

The red marked on in the corner seems to be one that's online, showing George VI and Admiral Tovey.

Yellow marked states that the King leaving on a destroyer, unsure of which.

Purple marked shows the king inspecting the Marines(?)

And finally the Green one states "Kings Visit" looks to be aboard a larger vessel.

Do you have a picture of the top edge of the box ? Navy medal boxes have the man's service number on the box I believe.

I do not have any photos of the top edge of the box as of yet, I will have a better look before work tomorrow, thank you for that information.
I was told by the seller that it was the son of the medals and photos who came into the shop with them, he stated that his dad was killed in a Road Traffic Collision in 1967, which I can find a death record of a J. E. Bollington from the area around this time at age 44, a lot of the story lost with him and a young age

Some more pictures from the lot in the meantime, these ones describe themselves
