I actually think this is a 25Pdr armour piercing round. The colour scheme if that’s a stained white and red band would suggest it as well and those markings look suspiciously British

That and the 25pdrs is 87.6mm

I think Jb may be right.....if so, these can be harder to find than the German 88.....

Not convinced due to the lack of groove below the driving band. I will look into the exact design drawings at work to see if a certain mark has that not present. In addition there seems to be the letters MM on the base and 25 Pdr was never refered to by metric size. I have half a dozen of them so I'll have a look.

Here is a Canadian war museum link to one of theirs and I think it lacks the grove you speak of?

Search the Collections | Canadian War Museum

It looks similar just with a driving band

Our Mark VII and Mark VIII's both do not have the groove but that is not surprising as it's QF Separate. The problem is that ours (wartime manufacture) have full details including Calibre stamped circumferentially on the base. Also both marks have a simple pressed tracer cavity where that one has a proper stepped pocket possibly for a separate tracer it be inserted.

In the end with this one it is down to the mark being different I think.
