DonaldJ - What is this relic from the Blitz?

My father was a schoolboy in Bushey, London, during the Blitz (1940 -41). After an air raid he discovered some shrapnel, which he kept and used as a paperweight. He always thought it to be the nose fuse from a German bomb, although I wonder if it came from an anti aircraft shell. Is anyone able to identify what it is?

The crows foot identifies it as British, I can't see enough of the marks to ID it totally.

Looks like a shell fuze to me,most likely from a shell fired from a anti aircraft gun

FWIW, the markings are: No. 209 - II.T.G.Co. 1/40 and CV4/40 244261 241.

As the fuse base diameter is 2.5 inches, I presume its from a 3.7 inch AA shell.....?

An interesting piece of local history. According to the 1940-printed manual "Notes on Anti-Aircraft Ammunition", the Fuze, Time, No. 209, Mark II was used with 4.5-inch ammunition.
