Hi all,

Im not sure this is the right place for this question, but it seems like it could fit into several sub forums. I generally collect ammunition and the associated crates for various munitions. I picked this box up some time ago as the stenciling was very interesting to me as it’s associated with the kwk43. The stencil on the top reads:
Geschutzvorrat
8,8 cm KwK 43
8,8 cm Pak 43
Langsbewege(n?m?r?)

Based on the materials of construction the box appears to be absolutely original and is consistent with my other munition crates. The wood corners are reinforced with metal covers and the edges are nicely dovetailed together. Some ordnance tan paint remains on the wood and metal fittings as well. The stencils seem hazy like the mask was not on the crate top well or they have gotten faded over time, but I don’t see any evidence of brush marks indicating hand painting. The box is 11 inches long, 8 inches wide and 7 inches tall. The inside has a lid strap and a placard holder for the contents. The lid has the standard German munitions box depressable latch and a single metal bale handle on the side.

Any ideas on what this would originally have been used for would be greatly appreciated!
